The Moonstone is a large, deep blue orb that has much historical significance in Pixie Hollow. It is used to maintain the life of all fairies by restoring the Pixie Dust Tree's strength every eight years.

Every eight years, the Moonstone is placed into a ceremonial scepter and used to transmute the light of the blue moon into blue Pixie Dust, which is used to restore the strength of the Pixie Dust Tree. Fairy Mary described it as "ridiculously fragile", and Tinker Bell accidentally broke it. However, its shards were still usable and Tinker Bell was able to arrange them to maximize its potential output.[1]
